Return to Doctors Curriculum Vitae

Welcome to Watauga Orthopaedics! I would like to take this opportunity to tell you more about myself. I received my B.S. degree from Penn State University and my M.D. from the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston Medical School in 1979. My Family Practice Internship was completed at Baylor College of Medicine Affiliated Hospitals and my Orthopaedic Surgery Residency training at Fort Worth Affiliated Hospitals.

I have practiced orthopaedic surgery since 1984, spending 12 years in private practice in Goldsboro, North Carolina, and 4 years in Kenya, East Africa, as a medical missionary with Africa Inland Mission. While there, I worked at two orthopaedic referral hospitals, caring for complicated orthopaedic patients referred from many countries in the region.

My practice is focused exclusively on orthopaedic surgery, particularly problems with theshoulder and knee. I have done total joints and arthroscopic surgery, and I strive to provide you as much information as possible to ensure that you make an informed decision on your treatment options.

I have been married to my wife Karen for over 30 years. We have three sons and a granddaughter. In addition to a busy and fulfilling home life, I enjoy running, tennis, golf, boating and church activities.

At Watauga Orthopaedics, we provide you with the best orthopaedic care available. Please let us know if there is anything more we can do to make your experience with us more rewarding.

I am looking forward to meeting with you.

Sincerely,

Joseph D Grant, MD.
