Welcome to Watauga Orthopaedics! I'd like to take this opportunity to share with you a little about my life. Born and raised in Knoxville, I received both my BS and MD degrees from East Tennessee State University. I then moved to Chattanooga for my residency in Family Medicine with the University of Tennessee. I went on to complete a Sports Medicine Fellowship at the Andrews Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Center in Birmingham, AL.
While in residency, I served as assistant team physician for the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, ringside physician for the Junior Golden Glove boxing circuit, and as an instructor in the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga’s Graduate School for Athletic Training. During my fellowship, I served as team physician for the University of West Alabama, Gardendale High School, and the Birmingham Barons (White Sox AA team). I have been on the medical staff for the Knoxville marathon, Mercedes marathon, NCAA Division I- AA Football National Championship games, and Southern Conference tournaments.
My goal as a sports medicine physician is to treat you, my patient as a family member. I am dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of new and overuse musculoskeletal injuries, chronic musculoskeletal diseases such as arthritis, and the non-operative management of fractures. While I am a sports medicine physician, my practice is not limited to only to the “athlete.” I enjoy treating patients of all activity levels from the competitive athlete and weekend warrior to the patient just who longs to return to his hobbies and spending time with family and friends. I strive to encourage and assist my patients in maintaining healthy, active lifestyles.
After working with the physicians of Watauga Orthopaedics while in medical school, I consider it such a blessing to have the opportunity to return to the Tri-Cities and practice medicine with this incredible group of physicians.
I live in Kingsport, TN with my wife, Lindsay, and our 2 wonderful boys, Brady and Anderson. I enjoy running, snow skiing, and church activities.
I am looking forward to meeting with you.
Sincerely,
Eric D. Parks, MD
