Eric D. Parks, MD

Non-Surgical Sports Medicine Physician

Dr. Eric Parks

Dr. Eric Parks is a board-certified sports medicine physician who specializes in the nonsurgical treatment of musculoskeletal injuries and conditions. Since joining the practice in 2009, he has helped athletes and active individuals of all ages return to the activities they enjoy through personalized, evidence-based care.

Born and raised in Knoxville, Tennessee, Dr. Parks earned both his undergraduate and medical degrees from East Tennessee State University. He completed his residency in Family Medicine at the University of Tennessee College of Medicine at Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga, where he served as Chief Resident. He then completed a Sports Medicine Fellowship at the renowned Andrews Sports Medicine & Orthopaedic Center in Birmingham, Alabama. Dr. Parks also earned a Master of Biblical and Theological Studies from Dallas Theological Seminary, reflecting his commitment to lifelong learning and serving patients and his community.

Throughout his training, Dr. Parks served as a team physician for the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, the University of West Alabama, and several high schools. He also provided medical coverage for NCAA Division I-AA Football National Championship games, the Knoxville and Mercedes Marathons, the Junior Golden Gloves boxing circuit, and Southern Conference athletic tournaments.

Dr. Parks currently serves as a team physician for Tusculum University, Dobyns-Bennett High School, and Tribe Lacrosse. He previously served as team physician for Sullivan Central High School.

As a sports medicine physician, Dr. Parks cares for patients of every age and activity level. Whether treating a competitive athlete, a weekend warrior, or someone simply hoping to remain active and independent, he believes every patient deserves an individualized treatment plan designed around their goals. He is committed to listening carefully, educating patients about their condition, and partnering with them to achieve the best possible outcome.

Board-certified by the American Board of Family Medicine with a Certificate of Added Qualifications (CAQ) in Sports Medicine, Dr. Parks focuses on the nonsurgical treatment of orthopedic injuries and conditions, including acute sports injuries, osteoarthritis, fractures, and overuse disorders. Much of his practice centers on tendon-related conditions such as rotator cuff injuries, tennis elbow, patellar and Achilles tendinopathy, and plantar fasciitis. He has a special interest in musculoskeletal ultrasound and performs a wide variety of ultrasound-guided diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in the office. Dr. Parks also utilizes regenerative treatments, including platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy, as part of a comprehensive approach to treating chronic musculoskeletal conditions when supported by the best available evidence.

Dr. Parks lives in Kingsport with his wife, Lindsay, and their five children. Outside the office, he enjoys maintaining an active lifestyle through running, strength training, and snow skiing, as well as spending time with his family and church community. He considers it a privilege to care for patients throughout the Tri-Cities and is passionate about helping them return to and stay engaged in the activities they love.
