Orthopedic Surgeon and Spine Specialist

Originally from Hattiesburg, Mississippi, Dr. Richard Duncan received his medical degree from the University of Mississippi School of Medicine in 1988. After completing a five-year orthopaedic surgical residency at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, he completed a one-year spine fellowship at Baylor Medical Center in Houston, Texas.

As a board-certified orthopaedic spine surgeon, Dr. Duncan is committed exclusively to spine care. He has been practicing spine surgery at Watauga Orthopaedics since 1994. With a special interest in minimally invasive techniques, Dr. Duncan was the first physician in the Tri-Cities to perform outpatient spinal surgery. He now focuses on non-surgical treatments for spinal conditions, including performing injections such as epidural steroid injections, facet blocks, and denervations.

Dr Duncan enjoys spending time with his family, including his three grandchildren. He also enjoys playing tennis, pickleball, and hunting.
